Thirteen Flies

By Conrad Pierce

Going nowhere fast, pull up the drawstring and raise up the mast. In a time machine going to the past, rewind it all if only we had asked. Numbers pulled and tags now lifted, waiting for them to grab ours- will there be mourners or will there be flowers? Time and God can tell but we're not doing so well to know, better we should but through the filth we go dust covered filters our minds always blow. Wishes wanting to materialize, unachievable is the only thing we seem to realize- minute details our only prize within this life our small surprise. Along with the mental effervescence life goes on as another year dies.

Insomnia

By Conrad Pierce

Thought I was dead long ago, how could I know- dreams never come.
Dreams may be the reality, reality no longer real- I do not feel.
Textures yes, stories no- it's all a dream, waking to sleep.
Answers no, questions yes- puzzle or maze, both a craze.
Layers leveling, floors falling- who's that, somebody calling?
Telephones not here, never was- I swear I heard a buzz.
Maybe somebody once, but never again- deeper I descend.
Tape recorder might work, but tape itself can't mend.
End sequence.

Three

By Conrad Pierce

Once you were a bright star.
Twice you were fallen- somewhere afar.

Once a light bringer and comedic thinker.
Twice a night lingerer and slumly slinker.

Once given a word which transformed you for a third.
Twice given a lie which transgressed you from your herd.

Once stolen away- a captive inside the asomatous war.
Twice rescued from hostile hands, astringed- no more.

Once recklessly abound through their whispering sound.
Twice a thunderous stroke took you out of the bind.

Now a numberless game intertwined- thoughts of the first,
thoughts of the second- both now unwind.

Final gambit hands entwine, brain waves now decline,
Spiritual scales off the rictor, you're finally fine.

Home at last- no more incline for a star that is mine.

Folly

By Conrad Pierce

Deeper with each passing day
Once merely a hair strand thick
It now seeps quintessence out into the air
Introducing a new train of digression,
the cut instead grows- renouncing all repair
Gaping further the man loses touch,
all his cuts now doing so- he now sees reality as such
Death consumes him for life is merely a transition,
in which he's left to linger.
Sometimes wishing his reality was as it should be
he then remembers life is full of despair
His life as the cut once was, merely a hair.
The only thing left is to watch the cuts gape, to cut back and stair.

Seasons Run Long

Sober before the score, lost as I left the door.
Memory dim before the trim, lights above shining rim- outdoors begin to grim.
Grin below the diner, dinner never finer- smells steadily kinder.
Grinder for the coffee, no longer craving toffee- slowly dying softly.

PS4 vs Xbox One and AMD vs Microsoft

I believe that the reason for naming the  Xbox  monochromatic is to present it as "the one console you need in your living room." But any way you stack it, the name is simply lacking...720...why not just use that...it's so much better than one. Why? Because it makes a little sense, makes it sound cooler, and in my mind creates an image of a snowboarder doing a 720 degree spin. Forget the name though, what the hell was that reveal about? It felt like teeth being pulled out at the dentists office, practically...and maybe entirely no game play. (I was in and out because it was so unbearable to watch.) While it was neat to see an actual console, the entire event seemed alien and off base- not reaching out to gamers. It felt akin to a bunch of politicians on stage trying to make you vote for them because "It's the right thing to do, and it'll make you feel good." Half of the time being spent talking about premium services you must buy to use and services people don't buy gaming systems for- they buy gaming systems to game.

PS4 event- they showed actual game footage and yet no console. What a rip off right? Yet this event made me personally feel a lot more hyped about the coming console, the people speaking felt as if they had a real interest in gaming and bringing a new highly enjoyable gaming experience. Showing way more of what the console is about and what it can do in what they showed, without even showing the console. Their theme seemed to be sharing your gaming experience with others, and introducing a new level of gamer involvement never before seen on a console.

While Xbox might have said there was something around 15 unique to Xbox titles to be released, none were displayed to see while several were shown (with actual game-play) at the PS4 side. Viewing the user interface of the Xbox one displayed an ongoing trend within  Microsoft  as a company, starting with windows 8 and possibly as far back as the release of the 360. I say this as a former owner of the original  Xbox, current owner of a 360, and long time computer  enthusiast  primarily involved in working with windows all the way back to 1998. Aside from the security advanced in windows 8 the operating system as a whole was and still is a slap in the face to anyone was a windows fans or user of their previous versions. Apple fans need not apply here, yet this seems to be who they are now targeting for their products. Commercials with strange glasses and hipster like dress, sorry windows nerds we don't really care about you- we want to hang out with the "cool" kids.

Now onto AMD, I've been angry with them for a little while- I built the current computer I am now using around their supposed ground breaking Bulldozer architecture, which they have somewhat improved upon with a few newer CPU releases but not to the point where i forgave them. I was so angry that I even bought an Nvidia GPU to replace and aging AMD. (Not to say that I have beef with Nvidia, they do make good GPU's and their only fault is possibly  aligning  with  Microsoft, but what other choice do they have.) Back to the point AMD made eight core CPU's at their top tier and had less focus on the four or six cores which are more viable for computer users because most programs in windows or mac or linux based system do not take advantage of cores over four. People brushed this off as AMD's focus on reliability and server applications which could take advantage of eight cores. However the reveal of the PS4 architecture relying on an eight core CPU and AMD 7000 series GPU makes this eight core configuration make a whole lot more sense in that they were giving us a piece of what they were making for the PS4 albeit not optimized for most PC  applications because they were hard at work with the PS4 people. The CPU code named "Jaguar" an x86-64bit processor will reside within the PS4 along with 8gb of GDDR5...that's quite a powerhouse. Looking into the future I hope to see the PS4 as a step forward for AMD and a possible new lease towards its critics upon the retail sale of the PS4. As for the Xbox one well, let's hope this is the last one. (Let Nintendo compete with Playstation, they'll at least offer play for free options and features.) I say all this as an owner of a PS3, Xbox 360, WII, Gaming Computer, and a Windows 8 laptop with a touchscreen.

What happened to music is truly a tragedy...well..at least the last 13 years has sure been.

Freedom

Haven't posted for many days...or months. Summer is nearly upon us, one can almost smell the gunpowder and firework smoke of 4th of July- my second favorite holiday. I am lucky enough to live in a state with decent firework rights, with the inclusion of many Indian reservations where one can obtain all of the illegal fireworks one might desire. Strange- it is legal to buy them but once they leave the reservation it is now illegal. One of the laws they do not strictly enforce but in other states it is much stricter and you cannot even have fireworks that fly above the ground. (Not to name names....) Then there are the states that say you can have any firework you want, any time of the year (Another issue I forgot to mention) and megastores where you can be like a kid in a candy or toy store. I've been using firecrackers since I was a kid, they are awesome and fun to throw down sewer drains or tie to things that need blown up. A needless expenditure yet the needless ones are often the best. Related on some level, choose your freedoms- some are taken in the night, others you give away freely, and some are even voted upon. Regardless we live in a free society, take advantage while you still can and participate in your own freedom daily.
